The Power of Partnership
One of my core beliefs is in the Power of Partnership. By working together on mutually agreed upon goals, we
can maximize the resources in our community. Partnerships, particularly public- private partnerships, can
produce positive results sooner and at less cost to the taxpayers.
Just a few examples of successful lake partnerships the city has with its citizens include the Arboretum,
Mockingbird Point Dog Park, Boathouse and White Rock Lake Museum. We have partnerships with organizations like
For The Love Of The Lake, Dallas Parks Project and White Rock Lake Foundation that provide needed services and
improvements to our lake.
The new master plan of Casa Linda Park would not be in place if Little Forest Hills and Casa Linda Estates
Neighborhood Associations did not partner with the city to create it. Then there is the Lakewood Pre-School
PTA that donates $90,000 to Lakewood School annually from its Home Tour and related activities. And what about
the Lakewood Service League that has invested several hundred thousand dollars in improvements in Lakewood Park.
Dallas AIA is working in partnership with the city and school district to create an urban design plan for
Vickery Meadow to help transform that neighborhood into an attractive, safe, community.
The Dallas Red Cross and Salvation Army...two of our partners in disaster relief.
Partnerships...it's the way Dallas produces positive results.
Sincerely,
