About Gary

Gary Griffith grew up in East Dallas. He attended Lakewood Elementary, J. L. Long and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1966.

At Woodrow, Gary was starting tackle on the Zone Championship team that ended the season ranked number 10 in the state. Gary went on to the University of Texas and earned a bachelor degree in government in 1970. At UT, Gary served as president of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity chairman of the Fraternity Presidents' Council and member of the Silver Spurs service organization.

Public service has always been Gary's passion starting with Key Club at Woodrow Wilson and continuing today in his work with the Dallas Park Board, Doctors Hospital, White Rock Lake Foundation and Saturday Lake Clean-Ups, Character Counts! programs in area schools, the Dallas Summer Musicals and Rotary.

When not involved in the community, Gary heads Jefferson Partners, the public relations practice he founded in 1994. He also serves as President of the Today Foundation. Previous to that Gary was human resources and communications director for an employee-owned hospital company.

Gary and his wife Jackie live in Lakewood and are members of the Wilshire Baptist Church. They have twin daughters, Vickie Griffith of Dallas and Mandy Griffith Oakes and her husband Michael of Nashville, TN.
